UNDP Global Conscious Food Systems Summit 2026 – Bhutan

Bringing Youth Leadership to the Global Conversation on Conscious Food Systems

Youth at the Global Food Systems Table

Our founder, Prasiddhi Singh, was invited as the youngest speaker at the inaugural Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Paro, Bhutan, convened by the Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA) and UNDP, in collaboration with the Royal Government of Bhutan. She joined global leaders, including H.E. Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, and H.E. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka to bring a youth perspective to conversations on conscious food systems and leadership.

Leadership, Learning & Legacy

On the Conscious Leadership panel, Prasiddhi reflected on what she learned from engaging with leaders across generations, especially the value of humility, curiosity, and listening. Her exchange with H.E. Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, highlighted how leadership can balance progress with sustainability, resilience, and long-term community wellbeing.

Building a Conscious Food Future

The summit reinforced a simple idea: transforming food systems requires young people, communities, farmers, and leaders to work together. Drawing from her work with The Green Pillar and Prasiddhi Forest Foundation, Prasiddhi spoke about the connection between youth, agriculture, and healthy ecosystems, including the role of agroforestry and ecosystem restoration in bringing degraded land back to life.

An Evening of Global Connection

During her time in Bhutan, Prasiddhi was invited by H.E. Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, and H.E. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, to join the official Gala Dinner with global leaders and changemakers, extending conversations around leadership, sustainability, and conscious food systems beyond the formal summit sessions.

Learning Across Generations

The following day, Prasiddhi also spent time with Mrs. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and a global voice for climate justice and women’s leadership, in a gathering with young women focused on leadership, purpose and the role of the next generation.

Learning from the Land

As part of the summit’s immersive living laboratory experience, Prasiddhi explored a youth-led farm, walked through local apple orchards, learned traditional wheat processing, and connected with local communities. The experience offered a closer look at how food systems are shaped by culture, traditional knowledge, livelihoods, and human values.

Taking Bhutan’s Lessons Forward

Beyond the summit, Prasiddhi’s time in Bhutan offered a deeper understanding of the relationship between people, food, land, and community. From global conversations to local traditions, the experience strengthened her commitment to youth leadership, conscious food systems, agroforestry, and ecosystem restoration and to building a future where people and nature can thrive together.
